Following my week in the South of France with Year 8 children, who were enjoying the traditional and well-deserved water sports holiday following their final exams, I struggled to put on a suit and tie on Monday, having spent the previous week in T-shirts and shorts even though it was a generally wet week! The Year 7 group who were in Snowdonia, clearly enjoyed better weather in North Wales, than we did judging by the photos on the website.

It has been lovely to see our swimmers perform so well at the Ardingly gala, especially Emi (2nd in the Butterfly), and Katie (3rd in the Breaststroke) at the IAPS National finals at the Aquatics Centre in London (where the 2012 Olympic swimming was held).

Nursery children are still attending Francis Court Nursing Home in Copthorne to entertain the residents – I’m not sure who enjoys it the most. The Year 6 music concert was jam packed with talent and variety. From Roxy Music to Bruno Mars, Beethoven to Offenbach, rock drumming to songs from musicals, and comedy monologues – all performed by children with huge confidence. Wednesday’s sports fixtures were again played in bright sunshine, with more girls playing cricket as we continue to move towards girls cricket replacing some rounders matches. Moving Up morning went smoothly, and the class teachers are all pleased with the children in their classes next year – I hope the children are also pleased with their teachers! The Pre-Prep children have been practicing for their Sports Day next week – I hope parents are training for the parents race! Our girl athletes (flushed with the success of winning the Epsom College meeting last week) and competed well at Burgess Hill.

Year 8 are out today on their traditional Leavers Walk from Copthorne to Ditchling and I am looking forward to watching the Year 5 SL drama performance this evening, with the other classes performing to their parents on Monday and Tuesday next week.

A huge thank you to out wonderful carnival float committee who have again produced a fantastic float for the Horley Carnival tomorrow (and the Copthorne Carnival the following week). Do look out for it if you are planning on attending these fun events.

Finally, can I encourage parents to get involved in our wonderfully social, yet intellectually taxing Quiz Night then disco next Friday. Tickets are on sale now!

Enjoy the weekend.
