A Visit From The Zoolab

This week the nursery enjoyed another annual visit from the Zoolab. Chris (from the Zoolab) brought along lots of interesting animals, including a stick insect called Twiggy, a tarantula called Rosie, a cornsnake called Jake, a snail called Brian, a millipede called Milly and a Tiger-Salamander called Randal.

The children were encouraged to hold some of the minibeasts. Learning about their natural habitats and lots of other interesting little facts. We were all really surprised to hear that millipedes don’t have a thousand legs as their name suggests but two pairs of legs for every segment. Milly had 240 legs and moved along like a brush!

The children were all very interested in the minibeasts and enjoyed seeing Chris’ pet rat called Bobby at the end of the session.
