A special Copthorne welcome to our 10 new pupils and 3 new Gap Students (Jack L in the Prep Department and Ellie D and Alice C in the Pre-Prep). I am sure you will help them all to settle quickly into life at Copthorne. The new term has started smoothly, apart from the water problem on Tuesday. Apologies for those of you who felt that  a Clarion message confirming that the school was open on Wednesday was not sent, but as you know, we always try to remain open through snow/freezing temperatures etc., so will always tell parents if we are closed … therefore you can assume that if you have not heard to the contrary, we will be open!

All children had efficient “fire drills” on Thursday, and we celebrated the success of our young chess players who won Sussex Junior Chess tournaments during the holidays in Uckfield and Burgess Hill – photo and report in this edition!

The Astro Ball on Saturday, 9 February, promises to be a fantastic event with a three course meal, auction/raffle and  dancing till late to live music, so if you have not yet organised a table (between 8 – 12 people) and  bought your tickets, please can I encourage you to do so. Tickets can be purchased through the school website – on the Information – Astro Appeal page. Whilst on the Astro Appeal page, please consider joining the Copthorne 200 club. For a £60 a year outlay, you will be entered into a monthly raffle to win £100!

Have a great weekend!
