Year 7 & 8 exams, chess, swimming, Tom’s Talking Reptiles, police visit, Year 6 trip to the Europa Centre; five prospective parent tours following up from Open Morning and a ski trip information meeting on Valentine’s Day!
Formal mid-year exams for our oldest pupils this week will show how they are progressing (and how effective revision was!); our young chess players narrowly lost against much older players; our year 6/7/8 swimmers performed very well at Cumnor. The Nursery had a visit from the police (one of our parents) as part of their topic on “People who help us”; and then Tom brought his reptiles in to be held and observed; we had four lovely 18 year old boys from Tanzania in school on Thursday observing lessons as part of their UK exchange visit with Imberhorne School. They were very impressed with our students and the school facilities – very different from their home. Of the four who visited Copthorne, two are going to study medicine, one engineering and one accountancy – so all have high aspirations, which is exactly what we want for all our young pupils!
Apologies to those parents who had to attend a ski trip meeting on Valentine’s evening – I hope you all enjoyed your romantic dinners after the meeting! The Year 6 trip to the Europa Centre was “très bon”, and gave everyone the opportunity to practise their spoken French!
Enjoy half term!
