Team Copthorne began this year’s qualification campaign for the 2013 NSEA national championships with a big bang!
Having not competed together since November, The stalwarts of Roselly, Georgia and Harriet were joined by Tori Gache on “Branston Pickles” .
They travelled down to Southampton for an Arena Eventing competition, hosted by The Godolphin School. It is a discipline judged on a combination of jumping, style and speed, a true all round test of a teams horsemanship – Our preferred event which we are the reigning NSEA National Champions at 70 cm.
In spite of the freezing conditions and having to get up at 4am, the team performed exceedingly well in the 70 cm, finishing in second place which qualifies us for the Nationals. In the higher 80cm they romped home as deserved winners with three fast stylish clears and secured a double qualification!
The icing on the cake was Birthday girl Harriet achieving a fantastic second place out of 46 competitors and qualifying for the individual Arena Eventing Nationals at 80 cm.
A huge first day out for TEAM Copthorne and the ponies. This double victory secures the 4th consecutive year that we will fly the Copthorne colours at the Addington Manor Nationals in October.
