We have started our Jungle topic looking at “Jungle Giants”. There were great discussions about what makes an animal a jungle giant and why some will not be. Having listened to the story of Elmer the Elephant, we made our own colourful elephants, concentrating hard on cutting on lines, folding and sticking.
We also started our phonics this week and the children have all done so well doing their homework in the evening, even though they are all still quite tired. The numeral walk around the school was also a great success, we’ve certainly got a few competitive children amongst us, spotting the next big number – harder than you might think! We’ve also had a go drawing jungle animals on the computer; this is still a work in progress but keep your eyes peeled to see them appear on display soon.
Next week the children will be having a special Forest School session on Thursday and will need to bring in their own teddy or soft toy to help make it magical.
