Mathematics and Chinese New Year

12th February 2016

We have been busy using our blowing skills to create wonderful Chinese blossom trees! Luckily none of us sucked the ink and we all remembered to blow! We have learnt lots of facts about Chinese New Year – how we should not have our hair washed on the first day, no laundry to be done and no use of knives and scissors on the first day either!

We have also been working hard in our mathematics – counting on in 2’s by sorting out socks and gloves into pairs to help us with this! Lots of the children are noticing more patterns in number sequences and telling us if they are odd or even. Leo noticed the date on the 9th February telling us it was an odd number, and Freddy noticed that 17 in our line is an odd number! Lots of ‘light bulb’ moments are happening in year 1 at the moment!

In the ICT suite we have been directing a car around a track: instructing the car to go forward, backward, left and right. A fun challenge until the car left the track and the screen! We managed to recover most wayward cars, or started again!

Virtual Open Day

Another Virtual Open Day!

Our next Virtual Open Day will take place on Saturday 3 October where we will share a link to an exclusive Open Morning page. The page will contain more information about our school and videos showing ‘A day in the Nursery/Pre-Prep/Prep School’.

Should you wish to speak to the Headmaster & Head of Pre-Prep in person, you are also invited for a 1:1 (socially distanced) chat at your convenience.

To book an appointment, or to register your place for the Virtual Open Day, please email our Registrar, Kathryn Billingham-West on
