What a lovely busy week. We have been working on adding numbers and using language associated with addition – more than, altogether and add. We are making sets of numbers bigger by adding to them as well as making sets smaller by taking away, working on ‘less than’. The children have worked hard at this.

We have been using alliterative language to describe minibeasts. “Massive minibeasts”, “beautiful butterflies”, “angry ants” and many more have all featured … a really fun activity.

To finish this off we made caterpillars by painting our toes and printing them … lots of tickles and giggling! We used our design and making skills to make some lovely creepy crawly bugs using construction materials and an awful lot of tape and glue. Our outdoor classroom has also been a hub of activity with chalks, painting and messy jelly! Look out for any buzzy creatures this weekend as next week we are looking at minibeasts which hum and buzz.

Please could we ask you make sure you write a comment (even just a short few words) in the blue reading diaries after you have read with your child. We love to know how they are doing with their reading at home and we then know that they have read and can give them new books. Reading at home, especially on weekends when your child is not tired, is really crucial at this stage. Remember to make it fun and interactive, ask questions and talk about the pictures as much as you can.
