Reception News

11th December 2019

This week has been beautiful weather so we went on a walk to gather leaves. We had to be selective and find leaves of different shapes, sizes and colours, comparing them along the way. In class we hunted for some of our new tricky words amongst the leaves and practised our word building skills in RWI. In Maths we have been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes. We made dinosaurs from 2D shapes whilst practising our scissor skills.

We also recapped the features of 2D shapes as we counted the number of circles, triangles, squares, rectangles and hexagons on our shape pizzas. We found 3D shapes around our classroom and sorted our wooden blocks into the different shapes. In ICT we practised our mouse skills making firework pictures on the 2Paint program.

We are expanding to GCSE!

Parents have told us they need a quality senior school alternative, so from September 2021, pupils already at Copthorne or joining in Year 7 will be able to stay with us to Year 11. Our first GCSE exams will take place in 2026.

Join us at our next Virtual Open Morning or read about our expansion to find out more.
