It was so lovely to see all the children back on Monday and they must have had a good break as they were very keen to learn! They started out by doing some really wonderful writing about their half term break and the teachers were so impressed by their efforts. The children are really trying to form their letters correctly and trying to get all their words on the line. They are using their phonics to help them sound out words they need.
In maths we have been working on numbers and place value, using number lines, estimating and counting sets of objects and really trying to understand teen numbers. We enjoyed using play dough and pegs to count ten then a few more to show our numbers as well as making paper chains to show our numbers.
Perhaps the highlight of the week was making pancakes and eating them!! Yum! We are a week early but we thought we would do it this week as next week is our busy Book Week.
We have been reading some Dr Seuss books at story time and listening to some of the fabulous rhyming words, trying to play with words to make our own rhymes. Mrs Jenkins got quite muddled with the “tweetle beetles having a battle in a puddle bottle with a paddle!”
Have a lovely weekend and well done to all the children, for a very productive week in Reception.
