Welcome back to all Reception children. This term our topic will be Transport. The children came up with brilliant modes of transport ranging from the obvious such as bikes and cars to the less common modes like space rockets and cable cars. We look forward to investigating a little more in depth in the coming weeks.

We’ve started our first IT project for the term drawing our favourite transport using the mouse with the computer. It required a great amount of thinking and careful hand-eye co-ordination creating our masterpieces and we look forward to displaying them in the classroom over the next few weeks … Oliver’s is pictured here!

We have also worked hard in Maths to subitise numbers to 6 (… in case you’re not sure/have forgotten! … subitising is a term that was coined by the theorist Piaget and defined the ability to instantaneously recognise the number of objects in a small group without the need to count them); we had so much fun practising this using maths games and various small objects.

We’ve also moved to different RWI groups and are all working hard to continue our progress.
