On Monday and Tuesday afternoons, we took groups of children through the woods and hopped on the 281 bus! It was a double decker so we climbed the stairs and sat at the top with great views over Copthorne village and on to Three Bridges station.
We enjoyed buying our tickets, looking at the timetables at the bus stop and all the signs on the roads as we went along. We were met at Three Bridges by Station Master Wagg and he gave each of the children a ticket to go up onto the platform. We were also able to sit on a train as Mr Wagg answered our questions about the trains and the station. He told us that a pair of train wheels is called a ‘Bogie’ which made the children laugh and he told us how fast the trains can go and how many people can fit into a carriage.
We then went into Coffee Zone and all had a lovely cup of hot chocolate (many thanks to the Anwar family!) before heading home on the bus again.
The children were all very well behaved and polite and made the teachers proud!
In Maths we started learning how to double numbers as well as playing games with shapes and exploring their properties.
In Literacy we imagined we were travelling under the sea and did some beautiful writing as we listened to the calming sounds of waves and dolphins. We will also be designing and making our own boats so watch this space for more exciting news on how we did that!!
