1st Indoor Hockey v Brambletye – Won 9-7

It turned out to be a successful afternoon for the girls when they picked up their first victory of the term with a hard fought win over Brambletye. After a good warm up the girls got into the game early by scoring 3 goals without reply. The passing from Sheen and Josie from the back was working well and the running off the ball creating some good spaces. Brambletye eventually replied with a goal of their own before Amber scored her second of the game from a short corner. Both teams added to their total with some excellent hockey being played and some well work goals being scored, notably by Alice and Elise for Copthorne. The girls went into half time leading 7-4.

The second half saw Brambletye dominate for large parts and even though the girls defended bravely they couldn’t stop the constant Brambletye attacks from producing goals and they brought the score back to 7-7 with only 3 minutes to go. With the game looking increasingly likely to be lost after such a convincing first half, some quick thinking from Amber saw her take a free hit quickly and drive into the D and score in the bottom corner. A nail-biting finish saw both sides go close but Copthorne were to have the final say, scoring a short corner off the last play of the game to make the final score 9-7.

Well done to all the girls who played. Your hard work, especially at the end of the second half, paid off and you deserved the victory. CC
