1st Rounders v Brambletye – Summer 2017

4th May 2017

Although much like Wednesday last week – cold and wet, the 1st team girls managed to persevere and brave the weather to play their match. Copthorne were sent into field first and started really well with only 2 rounders conceded from half the good balls bowled. This didn’t worry the home side as Brambletye started to take a few chances when running between posts and thus pressured us into making silly mistakes and unnecessary overthrows; giving Brambletye plenty of rounders by the end of their innings.

Copthorne took a more careful approach at first when running between posts and added a couple of ½ rounders. They kept trying to get the ball past the inner fielders but struggled against good fielding and the spin the bowler put on the ball. By the start of the second innings the weather started to go from bad to worse but again the girls pushed through. Much of the game play was the same with both teams taking ½ rounders when possible and capitalizing on miss fields in the deep to get all the way round. By the end of the 2nd innings Brambletye out batted and out classed us in the field to win comfortably.
