1st VI Girls Indoor Hockey v Great Walstead Won 5-2

The girls were on top form against Great Walstead in their first Indoor match. They were sharp on the ball, taking quick free hits and moved the ball with speed and determination. Charlotte opened the scoring from a well taken short corner. It was soon two from two, Charlotte scoring again from the short corner routine. The girl’s composure on the ball was fantastic; they looked wide for passes and used the boards effectively. Copthorne always looked for the attacking option but when needed our defense of Hannah, Katie and Rebecca stepped up to make strong tackles. When the ball did break through our defense Francesca confidently cleared the ball up the field. Copthorne had most of the possession during the game and created many scoring opportunities. The Great Walstead keeper did well making some good saves but could not keep up with the constant pressure from Copthorne. Abigail added her name to the score sheet with a fantastic goal just before half time. In the second half time Copthorne continued to pile on the pressure and once again camped out in the opponents half. Both Rebecca and Roselly kept the scoreboard ticking when they added to the score. There were many chances from here to increase the score line but the girl’s just narrowly missing their target. Well played girls, it was a fantastic display of hockey.

Team: Francesca; Katie; Hannah; Charlotte (2); Roselly (1); Abigail (1) and Rebecca (1)
