Won 7-4

The first team put a determined and gritty performance in against a tough Hazelwood side on Wednesday. Copthorne started the stronger of the two sides with some dominant play, working the ball nicely around the pitch. The right hand side was proving to be the greatest threat and some good passes across the D left Elise, Emily and Hermione all in space to put the ball into an empty goal. Hazelwood raised their game from here on in and came back fighting scoring 2 goals of their own. Just before half time some more good work throughout the pitch created two more chances and two more goals through Elise.

The second half saw Hazelwood take another step up and cause the defence some problems. Elise, Alice and Josie all tackled well but we must learn to mark players a little more tightly. This brought Hazelwood back to within one goal of Copthorne. Once again though, the girls upped their game and finished the game off with 2 goals from short corners. The final score ended in a 7-4 victory. Well done to all the girls for another good win as they look forward to the tournament next Wednesday at East Grinstead.
