Won 5-0

After such a successful week last week the girls could have been forgiven for a below par performance but this wasn’t the case as another strong game from everyone saw Copthorne finish their season off with a convincing 5-0 win.

From the very first whistle Copthorne dominated the game with attack after attack, scoring after barely 20 seconds gone. Elise and Amber were causing havoc down the right hand side of the pitch with the Lingfield defence struggling to cope with their pace. Alice, Sheen and Josie cut out any Lingfield threat leaving Jemima little to do in goal in the first half. Goals from Alice and another one from Amber gave Copthorne a 3-0 lead at half time.

The second half went the same way as the first with Copthorne continuing to dominate play. A few easy chances were wasted to extend the lead but the girls continued to build up play nicely through midfield with Emily becoming more and more influential in the game. Lingfield posed a little more threat towards the end of the game with Jemima making a couple of sharp saves. The game ended with Hermione and Elise scoring well worked goals to leave the final score at 5-0.

It’s been an excellent season for the first team. Great performances from all the girls have led to lots of victories against larger schools.

It’s been great coaching them this term and they have been a fantastic group to work with. I’m sure the girls who are leaving will move on to becoming even better players and the girls in Year 7 will have a lot to live up to again next year. Well done to everyone. You have left me one happy coach! CC
