1st VII Netball v Christ’s Hospital

4th December 2017

Despite the very cold weather and a short warm up on arrival, the girls got off to a very good start by intercepting the home sides first centre pass and driving straight into the D. It took Regina and Alana a couple of attempts before they got their eye in and then soon settled into a fantastic scoring rhythm. Ruby was very energetic as centre and timed her runs well to lose her defender. She also had quick reactions and intercepted the ball on numerous occasions. Isabel and Mallory connected well with her to move the ball out of defence onto the attackers. They had good vision to change direction and locate the space, quickly turning defence into attack. When CH did manage to break through and create scoring opportunities both Lila and Jemima used their height to their advantage and quickly got hold of the rebounds and cleared any danger.

By half time Copthorne were well ahead, this allowed the team to try out different positions to prepare for the versatility tournaments next term and much to some of the girls surprise were able to shoot and convert chances.  Won 21-3

The girls worked well as a team, they held their space well then used a good change of speed to dodge and advance up the court. I look forward to this quick and accurate style of play during the netball season.

Well done to all the girls and to Regina for being voted player of the match.
