Like some of the most recent matches the 1sts were slow to get off the mark again today, and during the first two quarters despite some strong defending from Amber, Sheen and Josie the 1sts were just not gelling together and couldn’t seem to get it into the circle to convert. Although Gt. Walstead’s defenders were giants putting our shooters to a disadvantage!
Changes were made at half time to the centre court and in the shooting circle and in these new positions the game seemed to flow much better, becoming much quicker and with the 1sts beginning to control and dominate the game, Gt. Walstead started to lose their cool! The 1sts managed to convert goal after goal from Alice and Elise and Hermione and Rosie worked well together down the court linking the play. Josie, Amber and Emily worked solidly in defence, gaining valuable rebounds and turning over the ball.
During these last two quarters the 1sts really showed what they were made of scoring 13 goals in total, however it sadly came a bit too late today, as despite this super second half, the earlier goals conceded won Great Walstead the match, 21 – 16. This was a shame as the 1sts were really coming into their own in the second half of the match; let’s hope we can be quicker off the mark next week at the IAPs!
Well done to all the 1sts today, it just wasn’t our day again! Player of the match today was Elise picked by both myself and Great Walstead! Good luck for next week girls!
