Due to illness, injuries and exams this week anyone who was fit played! Jemima and Katherine both had the opportunity to play up and they certainly stepped up to the mark, with both girls having a great game!

From the start, it was clear that Great Walstead were a strong team and were used to playing together, whilst we were not! Despite this Copthorne hung in in there and once they had settled and got the ball into our shooters, past the giant defenders, Khushi in particular scored some great goals from long range!

In the second half of the match despite Great Walstead having a solid lead, Copthorne’s heads did not go down once and I could not have been prouder of how the girls played and fought on, showing great determination and perseverance! By using every opportunity that came their way the quarters were much closer, with Great Walstead only taking the third quarter 8-4 and Copthorne even turning the tables, to take the last quarter 5-4, showing fighting spirit to the very end!

Despite a loss today for the girls, I would like to commend them all for the great sportsmanship and perseverance they all displayed today throughout the match. This is what playing sport is all about, coping with adversity, but remaining positive and being ready to face difficult challenges that come your way, that sometimes you will overcome, and sometimes you won’t!

Well done to all the girls today, a super effort, especially all the girls who played up! A special well done also to Khushi, who was Great Walstead’s POM today and also mine, joint with Jemima S.
