To come away with a draw in this match was a bonus! Missed chances and poor passing made this game an uphill struggle from the first whistle. However, the girls pulled together and after going down 1-4 in the first quarter to a very good LND team, the second quarter was much better with Alys and Hannah getting the Copthorne team back in contention by scoring 4 goals to Notre Dame’s 2. We were 5-6 down! The third quarter was very even with both teams scoring 3 goals each – 8-9.
In the final quarter Alys went into GD and played really well alongside Micki. Jemima was on hand at WD to bring the ball down the court, with Harriet, as usual, covering a lot of ground in the C position. Our defence was too good for LND and they were unable to score any goals. We had a fabulous opportunity to win this match with a penalty shot being awarded in the dying seconds, but unfortunately Lady Luck wasn’t on our side, and both Hannah and Prisha’s shots went begging.
Charlotte had a great game in the WA position finding good space and accurate passes into the D.
Player of the match, voted by LND, was Alys and I have to agree, as she showed just how versatile she is by playing brilliantly in both the GA and GD positions. Well done Alys! Huge thanks to all who came to support. MJ
