1st VII Netball v LND

22nd January 2016

Lost 20-30

The 1sts took a while to warm up and gel together today and this showed in the first quarter where St. Christopher’s were quick on the ball, making few mistakes and converting from every opportunity. As a result of this first quarter St. Christopher’s were 10 goals up! After a change and a chat, the 1sts came out fighting and during the second quarter some great netball was played by all, with fantastic defensive work from Am-ber and Sheen turning over valuable centre passes, and Elise and Alice linking well with the centre court players to feed the ball into the circle to score. As a result of this turnaround in the play although St. Christopher’s were still ahead, the score line remained equal in this quarter.

In the final two quarters the 1sts remained strong matching every goal from St. Christopher’s, and Amber shone through in defence really applying the pressure! Elise and Alice also really started to come into their own and their movement and shooting was superb. Despite a tremendous last two quarters though, where the 1sts won the third quarter on goals and were equal again in the fourth quarter, it just wasn’t quite enough to catch up with the goals conceded in the first quarter, which is exactly what St. Christopher’s won by in the end!

Despite the final score it was a closely fought match today in the end, with both teams performing well, with the 1sts already starting to show improvement and better teamwork. Let’s keep it up girls and keep going!

Player of the match today picked by St. Christopher’s was the 1sts netball captain Elise, and my player of the match today was Amber for her awesome defensive skills! Well done girls.
