1st VII Netball v LND

17th January 2016

It was lovely to be given the opportunity to coach, umpire and watch the 1st team, some of whom I haven’t worked with since Year 3 and 4! Elise is the 1st VII captain and thoroughly deserved to be it, for her motivation both on and off the court! Despite losing the toss and Notre Dame scoring first, in the first two quarters of the match the score line remained close between Copthorne and Notre Dame and there was some super netball from both teams, with Rosie flying all over the court as centre, and Elise and Amber working tirelessly in attack and defence! At half time the score remained close however Notre Dame just had the upper hand, leading 8 goals to 4!

In the last two quarters of the match Notre Dame really picked the pace up and started to pull away, converting from every possibility, whether it was their centre or not, whilst we did not. This was a shame for Copthorne as the match today was much closer than it seemed and I certainly do not think the score line reflected the match, or Copthorne efforts! Nevertheless Notre Dame were an incredibly strong team, probably one of the toughest Copthorne will come up against this season, so we have a lot to take and learn from this match!

Despite the 1sts loss today I feel that this is a team with great potential who with further hard work and determination should do well this season! I look forward to continuing to work with them!

Player of the match today chosen by Notre Dame was Hermione and my players of the match were Amber and Elise. Well done girls! TC
