After two weeks of cancelled matches due to weather conditions out of our control, the 1st VII found themselves playing a versatility tournament this week, of which they played in extremely high spirits from start to finish!

They played seven 6 minute matches back to back (without a break) of which they all followed a rotation, allowing all the girls the chance to try their hand at some new positions. With Percy Pigs, up for grabs for the top goal scorer, it was all to play for!

The 1st VIIs first match was against a very strong Holmewood House side, who won the tournament overall and were giants compared to us. They won the first match 6-0. Despite this loss in the first match the girls held their heads high and fought on winning the next 2 matches against Hazelwood 4-2 (4 goals from Khushi) and Sevenoaks 3-0 (Rosie 2, Josie 1).

The girls then tired a little and lost to another Hazelwood side 4-2 (Rosie 2) and Hawthorns 1-0. Both matches were again played in high spirits and we had our chances but couldn’t convert, being extremely unlucky, as in my opinion we were the better team in both these matches and had most of the possession!

The girls then went on to play their final matches against Rose Hill winning 3-0 (Katie 3) and Aberdour who the girls were drawing with right up until the last 30 seconds, when unfortunately, Aberdour managed to score winning the match 1-0. Again, we were the better team in this match!

When the placings were called out at the end of the tournament the girls finished in a very worthy 4th place and were very unlucky in my opinion not to take the runners up spot today! Not bad at all for our first versatility tournament and for not playing for a few weeks!

It was a super effort today from all the girls, who all improved as the tournament went on. A special mention to Rosie who proved just how versatile she is, and played superbly in every position today! Well done to all the 1st VIIs though today and I’m positive with more hard work and focus, we will continue to improve. Keep it up for the next half of term girls!

My player of the tournament today was Rosie and the Percy Pig winner is shared between Rosie and Khushi!

Rosie 4, Khushi 4, Katie 3, Josie 2, Regina, Jemima, Lila, Sheen.
