1st VII Rounders v Ardingly & Worth

The 1st IX team looked really smart in their new kit for their first game of rounders.  Congratulations to Katie who has been chosen to Captain the 1st IX team this term.

Our first innings was against Worth.  We won the toss and elected to field.  The girls all fielded really well in this game, with Katie & Roselly working well as backstop and 1st post.  Sofia made a brilliant catch, and Isy also positioned herself under a high ball and made the second catch of the innings.  Micki’s bowling was consistent, and she only gave ½ rounder away.  The innings finished with Worth scoring 3 rounders.

It was our turn to bat and apart from Micki scoring a fabulous rounder off her first ball, we didn’t score, but all 9 players were still in.  After this settling in period, Roselly scored a rounder off her second ball and Jess ran really well, scoring two ½ rounders from sloppy fielding from the Worth girls.  We managed to just win this game by 4½-3.

The match against Ardingly was a completely different story.  The Ardingly team were great hitters and their fielding was

flawless.  We had 3 girls stumped out on first post after failing to make contact with the ball and the Ardingly girls got us all out after only 14 balls!

Our fielding was sloppy, we missed catches, and overthrew balls to post minders, we lost ½-8.  However, it was our first game and positions and team selection is still changing, so hopefully we can regroup and have some serious batting practice over the next few games sessions and be ready for Brambletye next Wednesday.  Well done girls and thank you to our supporters. MJ
