1st XI Cricket v Brambletye – Summer 2017

4th May 2017

With the temperature in single figures, grey skies and drizzle turning to heavy rain; so it must be summer and the cricket season! Batting first in difficult conditions Josh (28) and Kieron (17) never looked in trouble as they scored freely moving comfortably past a fifty opening stand. The rain increased and the ball, now wet, was difficult to hold. We lost both openers rather unnecessarily bringing Zac and Luke to the crease. Soon after this the umpires called a halt as the conditions worsened and play became dangerous so tea was taken. More rain came and the inevitable abandonment came. We all do this for fun and that became in very short supply which was a great shame. Surely the weather must improve soon!
