We were the fortunate ones who got to play yesterday after a near block cancellation of all boys fixtures, so with that in mind I decided to bolster the team with Bradley and Zac from the Colts A’s.

It was a rather close affair with both teams threatening to score on numerous occasions; however neither side could take their chances. There was some good possession football played in the right areas of the pitch but we were maybe a little too eager to keep hold of the ball rather than take on the shot; and with the wind blowing in multiple directions and a wet surface you never know what might happen. Lancing took the lead in the final minute of the half so just as we thought we were about to go into the half on level terms for the first time this season we found ourselves chasing the game.

We rolled subs on and off throughout the game so it was a good opportunity to see players in different positions. A wicked deflection and a big gust of wind can claim Lancing’s 2nd goal but nothing could be done about their 3rd. A long range effort into the top corner pretty much settled the fixture. Dylan managed to grab a goal back after some nice footwork and a well-placed strike into the bottom corner and if it wasn’t for a lively goalkeeper Dan and Bradley could have also pinched a goal.

It was a much improved performance and a game that was certainly winnable but we can’t quite manage to all play at our highest level at the same time.
