With Bradley, Luke, Kieron and Nick all unavailable to play due to sitting entry tests to Dunottar this match was always going to be an uphill struggle.  A strong St. Christopher’s side dominated possession in the first half and held a comfortable 3 goal advantage going into the break. We had only conceded 3 goals all season up until this point. With so many changes in personnel it was difficult to find any sort of rhythm and build an attack.

The second period started in a similar manner with a further 3 goals going in within the first 15 minutes. It was now a matter of pride and showing that desire to win that has been the cornerstone of our season so far. As Christopher’s pushed on looking for more goals they left some room in behind which Beau and Daniel began to exploit. A lovely cross along the edge of the box found Sam S, making his 1st XI debut from the bench, who duly drilled it into the back of the net. Buoyed by this we continued to press and create chances and from a well taken corner by Ben, Charlie found the space and time to dive a shot into the far corner to open his account for the season.

With a full strength side this would have been a great encounter with both schools going undefeated all season, however it turned out to be a learning experience, which is vital in making improvements in sport. Sometimes you have to learn how to play against superior opposition and understand that work rate and aggression can be a great tool in disrupting the flow of the game.

With one game remaining I am looking to the boys to dig in deep, pick themselves back up again and finish the season on a high.
