1st XI v Cumnor House

To put it simply we were outplayed in every department by a very good Cumnor side. Batting first the opposition scored 171 for 6 in very quick time. Our bowlers tried hard but the batsman were very quick to pounce on any loose delivery and despatch it to the boundary. This, together with good running between the wickets and frequently slip shod fielding, accounted for the large score.

Batting after tea we never really got going, some sweet shots from Jamie, Joe and Neal were simply not enough as we failed to create a meaningful partnership and were dismissed for a meagre 72. There is always something to learn and today it was all about energy and patience. Energy in the field, and remember the outfield is not as smooth as Lord’s so one handed pick ups are disasters waiting to happen, and patience when batting, not everything can be hit to the boundary.

Next week we are playing in the Sussex Under 13 cup away at Uckfield Community College and I believe that it is a 2.45 start.
