1st XI v Windlesham House

28th April 2016

Probably  the most challenging fixture of the year on a bright but very cold day. Winning the toss Zac elected to field and things started far better than last week. Zac C took 2 in 2 reducing the guests to 9 for 2 with great catches from Zac R. The catching was, in the main, excellent with Bradley, Josh and Kieron all taking good chances. We used 7 different bowlers with Zac C and Rohan taking 3 wickets a piece. Ollie chipped in with one and there was a great run out from the other Zac. After 15 overs Windlesham were 88 for 8 and the boys were buoyant however we failed to finish the job and 8 overs later the score had moved on to 150 for 8 due in part to 3 dropped catches. Our reply started well but then a silly run out and several injudicious shots put us well on the back foot at 47 for 6!  Enter Kieron who battled away for 17 overs for an impressive 25 not out. He was well supported by Dan and then followed a second collapse leaving us on 68 for 9 with 8 overs left. I was very impressed by both Kieron and Bradley who battled manfully taking runs when on offer and batting very sensibly. A draw looked very unlikely but the boys touched it out against a very good attack and held on for the draw. In the end a very good result achieved with great determination which I hope is a sign of things to come. Thanks for all the support and I really do hope that the weather will warm up eventually!!
