A different grouping this time out with year 7 & 8 mixed in a 12 a side game played to U12 rules. Hazelwood the visitors this time and it was fairly evident that Copthorne were the stronger and certainly larger side. This was translated into points as tries came at regular intervals. By half time the boys were 5-0 to the good and so a little judicial management was required and the second half was a more balanced affair finishing 4-1 to the boys. I think it is important to try and manage games like this as nobody gains anything if a match is too one sided. From my perspective it was pleasing to see the boys playing rugby the right way as there is a huge temptation to

simply bash up the middle with the big lads. The season seems to have flashed by with only 3 games to go and 5 wins out of 6. Ironically the most enjoyable game from a rugby standpoint was the defeat to Great Walstead as it was by far and away the most competitive game thus far. Have a great half term and come back ready to do it all again as well as a number of 7’s tournaments. Once again a big thank you to our loyal supporters and the manner of their support, which is always encouraging and team based, rather than individual. Also a big thank you to Hurst for providing all our refs this time and Jordan Turner-Hall who was very impressed with the boys and who I hope to get in to do some coaching after the break.
