A miserable grey day greeted us at the local rivals Cottesmore. A couple of team changes but basically the same team from last week. The boys had trained hard after the disappointing result and we came out of the blocks with real purpose. The backs looked like scoring throughout and the forwards managed to supply a decent amount of ball. Although under initial pressure our defence held with some devastating tackling. Sam D at 9 really put pressure on his opposite number. Charle, Austin, Ben and Alex all ran well and tackled ferociously. Liban and Sam S didn’t miss a single tackle. Up front Ali and Louis were excellent and the front three battled away all afternoon. By the break we were 2 tries up after scores from Austin and  a great finish from Alex.
The temporary loss of Charlie allowed Cotty back in and the scores were level. However the “finishers” came on and we scored through Austin and the the best score of the game saw Ben run in unopposed to give us our first deserved victory. The two most pleasing aspects were the defence with barely a tackle missed and the fact we played heads up rugby and didn’t simply rely on the”big lad” strategy. A great way to go into the Christmas break. Well done boys and thanks for the vociferous parental support from the sidelines! Merry Christmas to you all.
