1st XV Rugby v Hazelwood

12th February 2016

Won 31-15

After the euphoria of last week we faced another serious challenge against Hazelwood who we have not beaten for some years. If we expected the opposition to hand us the game we were quickly brought back to reality as they went 5-0 ahead. Parity was quickly restored with a Dan T try but again Hazelwood came back to lead once again. A converted score from Zac R gave us a narrow lead at half time.

To put it simply our execution was sloppy and too many mistakes were making it difficult for us to gain any rhythm. To add to our woes poor play gifted another score to put us behind once again. However we went back to the basics and began to execute moves with greater precision and the score board started to move in our direction. Scores from Zac R and 2 from Zac C put the game beyond the opposition leaving us 31-15 ahead.

As always Hazelwood proved to be a difficult opponent and we were not at are best but the record will show another win. Last week proved that we can play very much better and we will need to do that in the remaining matches against Brambletye and Ashdown. Have a good break boys and come back rested and refreshed to attack the rest of the season.

Once again a big thank you to our loyal supporters, as one of them remarked “Great Walstead and Hazelwood away and 2 wins is something I never thought I would hear”. Well we have done that so let’s finish it off. JC
