1st XV Rugby v Duke of Kent

8th January 2016

A new year and at last something near a full strength side with Will back from his “break” but unfortunately Arjun absent due to his fall. A great way to start for the 1st’s who comfortably outplayed Kent in all departments. A little bit of “white line fever” on occasions but otherwise a top performance. Tries from Zac C (3), Dan P, Beau and Zac R + 3 conversions made up the scorers but it was the manner in which the boys played that was the most impressive. The forwards won consistent ball and the backs ran well with creating numerous chances. I think Beau’s try was the pick of the bunch purely and simply because it was a whole team move as they stretched a good defence first one way then the other before Beau ran in pretty much unopposed.

An impressive start and one which bodes well providing we can keep fit. An additional bonus was the number of 2nd’s players who are impressive and pushing for places, which makes it all very healthy indeed.

Happy New year to all our supporters and well done boys. JC
