1st XV v Brambletye

11th March 2016

1st RugbySo the last game of the season and certainly the wettest. I think all the boys were just pleased that the game was on rather than ending the season with a cancellation so thanks to Brambletye for putting the game on. An interesting game although it was fairly clear from the early exchanges that the boys looked comfortable and despite conceding over 40 penalties in the game we ran out comfortable winners by 31 points to 12 with tries from hat trick hero Dan T, 2 from Zac C topped off by 3 conversions from the captain. I thought that the boys played really well in difficult conditions with the pack hitting up over and over again before releasing the back line. At last Dan T had a bit of room to move and showed us all how far he has come as a rugby player. The usual culprits were there at the business end of the game picking and driving giving each other great support. Only one lapse of poor tackling spoilt an otherwise thoroughly competent performance. Apologies to Toby’s grandfather for the miss information and a big thanks to Zac R’s dad for his acrobatics on the steps! Seriously though, a big thank you from me to the boys for their efforts and the parents for their loyal support throughout what has been an exceptional season in which we have certainly punched above our weight with Great Walstead still being the highlight. Have a great Easter break and back for cricket and hopefully some slightly drier weather. JC
