The second team put in a hardworking performance against a good Brambletye side but were unable to turn the hard effort into goals. The opposition started much the stronger and the girls found themselves 3-0 down within the first five minutes. Fortunately the girls got themselves into gear and made the game more competitive. Good defending restricted any further goals from Brambletye although the chances for Copthorne to score were few and far between.
The second half started much as the first did with Brambletye scoring early goals to make the score 6-0. Once again, the girls were too late in getting themselves back into the game and with the score at 6-0 the game looked over. The girls however would not lie down and pushed for a goal towards the end of the game. Finally with time running out and the final short corner pushed out, the ball found its way into the Brambletye goal to make the final score 6-1.
There were some encouraging signs during the game that there is more to come from the team. Just a little more confidence and less panicking when on the ball should see the girls develop into a stronger team who can push for that vital win. CC
