2nd IX Rounders v Brambletye – Summer 2017

8th May 2017

For the second week running we only played one innings before rain stopped play. Isabella was our captain today and she put the Brambletye girls into bat first. The home side had some very good hitters and they took full advantage of their sloping pitch in the early stages of their innings. The Copthorne girls adjusted their fielding positions and fielded much better towards the end; with 3 great stops from Orianne, a catch from Abigail and some quick thinking from Grace throwing the ball to Isabella on third for a stumping.

A score of 10½ was a tall order for the team to chase and unfortunately our batting wasn’t strong enough; however rounders were scored off a fabulous hit by Isabella; as she had hurt her leg, Isy ran for her and scored a good rounder; and Hannah also scored a rounder on her last bat of the game. We scored 5½ rounders at the end of our innings and it was then decided to abandon the game due to slippery conditions, and go in for match tea!

Well played girls; make sure you practice your batting techniques in lessons! Thank you to the parents for braving the weather once again!

Congratulations to Abi who was voted player of the match; great bowling Abi!

Team: Isabella (1½), Abi (1½), Hannah (1), Jenna, Isy, Orianne, Leah (1½), Shriya, Grace, Lara.
