2nd IX Rounders v Cottesmore

Copthorne lost the toss so batted first. Cottesmore’s fielding was very strong and they rarely dropped the ball which meant regardless of our big hits, the girls struggled to score any ½ rounders let alone whole ones. Gradually the girls started taking more risks, showing determination, especially from Harriet who managed to score 1½ rounders. Georgina also scored a total of 2 rounders, and was the only girl making it the whole way round the pitch. Overall the batting was good; however the placing of the ball meant that it was difficult to score anything. We scored a total of 4½ rounders. Our batting in the second innings wasn’t as great which was due to the fact Cottesmore had scored a total of 11, the girls started letting their determination slip. We ended up scoring 7½ in the end. The Cottesmore girls were all very strong batters which meant they scored many ½ and whole rounders. Our fielding altogether was not necessarily weak; we just struggled to work as a team getting the ball where it needed to go, therefore giving away rounders. Willow and Kilti worked well out deep; using the gate position well and getting the ball back to a post swiftly. Vicky, Elly and Abbey all caught someone out as well as Prisha stumping someone out on 2nd post. After both innings, Cottesmore scored 22 rounders. Although the score showed quite a drastic difference, Copthorne put up a good fight.  HD
