On arrival the girls were told they were going to play a triangular match against Cumnor’s 2nd and 3rd teams  – all girls were up for the challenge. The first match was against Cumnor 2nds – as there was only one innings to play the pressure was really on. The girls went into field first and managed to hold Cumnor to only 5 rounders, superb catches from Meghana and Reihaanah, fantastic team work from Jo, Mel and Natasha helped keep their score down. Sadly our batting was not quite up to par and the girls only managed to score 4½ – unfortunately Jo’s second rounder was just out at 4th post! a very tight game and a close score line.

Copthorne lost the toss against the 3rd team and went into bat first, a super rounder from Jo helped the score line but by the end Copthorne had only scored 2½. When Cumnor went into bat the girls lifted their game and their fielding was very impressive particularly between Meg and Reihaanah, also improvements were seen with the other fielders – Sav, Yasmin and Shaan.

Final score line was 4 – 2½ to Cumnor, again a tight score line.

A big thank you to Sarena for stepping up to play with the 2nds, in general a confident game let down by some slow running to 1st post and batting skills which need to be improved.  Girl of the match was Meg – well done. CL
