2nd IX v Brambletye 1 – 1

After the heavy defeat last week the boys have worked really hard on the basics during training and it certainly showed today. In atrocious conditions both teams tried to play attractive passing football. Both the full backs, Arjun and Nathan, got their challenges in early and Nick covered every blade of grass giving the defence a rather more solid appearance than last time. This was further helped by the presence of Peter at the back who added further confidence to the team. Losing Kieron at the last minute to the 1st XI didn’t help us however Will did a sterling job in midfield ably assisted by Josh and Rohan, who continue to grow in confidence. They kept us going forward in a first half that we dominated. Kye and Toby must learn to shoot when the opportunity presents itself, rather than looking for the extra pass which was too often the case. Somehow we went in at half time 1 – 0 down very much against the run of play. Thomas came on just after the break and played well in an unaccustomed role. After a very good move involving several players and numerous passes Rohan managed to slot the ball home. Despite all our efforts we could not secure the winner and in the end were indebted to Peter for a great save towards the end to leave us with a more than deserved draw. Shooting practice now in preparation for Pennthorpe but well done boys.
