2nd IX v Pennthorpe Won 4 – 0

What a great day for the 2nd IX. Although we still have a lot of work to do, the boys have tried really hard in training and their performance on the pitch clearly demonstrated this as they looked to play football and not simply hack the ball forward. The biggest improvement has been in the positional play which allows for more time on the ball and better decision making. It was only in the last few minutes that excitement got the better of us and we lost a bit of discipline. The defence with Peter (a good clean sheet) and brother Nick the heart of it, ably supported by the rapidly improving Arjun and Nathan, looked both solid and composed. The midfield with Josh holding allowing Kieron and Rohan to play higher up the pitch worked very hard and created a lot of chances for the strikers. In fact Rohan, following in a shot from Nick slotted the second goal from close range. Up front both Kye and hat-trick Toby are growing in confidence although there needs to be some work done on the first touch which is a bit loose. Overall this was a good performance against a decent Pennthorpe side. There may well be tougher battles ahead but the level of improvement thus far is immense.
