2nd VI Girls Hockey v Handcross Park

12th November 2016

The 2nd team put in a hardworking performance against Handcross on Wednesday afternoon but were unfortunate not to come away with at least a draw from the game. The match started at a rather slow pace with both sides working each other out. Soon both teams started to create chances and it was Handcross who took the lead with a well worked short corner routine. This did not stop Copthorne though as they went on the attack. A lovely pass from Orianne put Cassie in the clear and she neatly finished past the goalkeeper to level the scores up. Some excellent saves from Isabella in goal kept the scores level at half time.

The second half saw Handcross start strongly and take the lead once again. Hard work from Grace, Lila and Jenna in the midfield backed up from solid defending by Lily-Grace and Leah in defence meant that Handcross couldn’t add to their score until the last minute of the game. A lack of a cutting edge up front was probably the difference between the two sides but the girls should be proud of their efforts.
