2nd VI Hockey v Brambletye – Drew 2-2

The 2nds had a really tough match, playing against a Year 8 Brambletye team.

Both teams were evenly matched and the competition to win the ball was aggressive.  The Copthorne girls had several chances on goal, but unfortunately they didn’t hit the target.  However, our perseverance paid off in the first half with Roselly scoring the first and only goal in the half!

After a team talk and some e-numbers! The girls were ready for the second half.  However, Brambletye came out fighting and found us sleeping on a couple of occasions scoring 2 quick goals.

Sarena and Sian played brilliantly in defence, tackling well and pushing the ball up field.  Georgia had an excellent game in goal, saving shot after shot keeping her team mates in the game.

Late in the second half, after a goal mouth scramble, where Frosty hit the post,  Roselly managed to pick the ball out from the GK’s feet to score her second goal.  A very well deserved draw girls!  Well done to you all!

Player of the match:  Everyone, but especially Sian Harris for her tackling and general play, especially as it was her first ever hockey match.  Well done Sian!  MJ  A huge thank you to Mrs Finnegan & Mrs Hamlett for helping with transport!
