2nd VII Girls Hockey v Priors Field

30th September 2016

This was our first visit up the motorway to Priors Field School. We got there nice and early and Mr Clarke got the girls working hard in the warm up. The game was extremely one-sided to begin with and the Copthorne girls had lots of attacking play. It soon became apparent that the PF goalkeeper was not afraid to throw herself in front of the ball. If it hadn’t been for her excellent keeping the score could have been a lot worse for PF. However, after a good spell of hockey the Copthorne forwards managed to break down the defence and Khushi scored a nice goal in the corner.

Isabella (GK) didn’t have very much to do all game, but she was ready and alert whenever the ball came near her, once again clearing well away from any attacking players. Khushi scored our second goal of the half after advantage was played when Lila struck for goal, the ball hit a defenders foot and Khushi was on hand to push it over the line.

In the second half the PF girls came out with renewed energy and started to attack our goal but our defenders stood strong and the ball was soon back up the field and into Leah’s path who had an excellent shot on goal but unfortunately went just wide. Our third goal came from a quick free pass which Isabel took; finding Khushi in space who crossed a lovely ball to the waiting Katherine who managed to get a touch to put it past the keeper. The PF girls got a consolation goal after Lily-Grace took a little too long on her hit out and Isabella found herself in a one on one situation with their centre forward.

Well done girls another super win, great work again from our forwards Lila, Khushi and Grace.

Well done to Khushi who was voted player of the match for the third game on the trot!
