2nd VII Netball v Lingfield College

15th January 2018

Lost 7-15

Although the girls knew that today’s match would be tough they were in high spirits after a good warm up. Despite this we didn’t get off to a very good start with the opposition turning over the first centre pass and passing the ball quickly into their shooters to score the first goal of the match. Lingfield College in the first quarter of the match dominated the play in all areas of the court and their passing was quick and efficient going into the lead 6-1.

In the second quarter Copthorne looked a totally different team. Centre court players Emily, Hannah and Isabella formed a great linking unit passing the ball smoothly and quickly down the court into shooters Grace and Shriya who moved superbly within the D and shot with great accuracy. Our defending was tight and the girls made good use of the width of the court running into space to create attacking opportunities. Throughout the second half Copthorne worked really well as a team, making good passing decisions enabling them to get the ball down the court quickly giving them scoring opportunities. Hannah worked tirelessly as centre, finding her space well and intercepting the ball on numerous occasions. In defence Isabella, Jenna and Alayna marked superbly making lots of interceptions stopping the opposition from having possession in their shooting third. Although the match ended in a win for Lingfield the girls should be commended for a tremendous team effort. This was really a fantastic game after the first quarter with some excellent netball played by both teams.

Congratulations to Hannah who was voted player of the match by the Lingfield College team.

The team: Grace (captain), Shriya, Emily, Hannah, Isabella, Jenna, Alayna and Tali.
