2nd VII Netball v Notre Dame – Lost 5-22

It was a tough match today for 2nd VII girls, who played the much taller Notre Dame team.  In the first quarter both teams fumbled the ball and needed to watch their footwork.  Despite this, some excellent ball play from centre court players Francesca S. and Savannah H. sent the ball to the hands of first-time shooter, Esme V. who scored!   Esme was supported well by Zara E.  in the shooting circle.  However, Notre Dame was able to gain the upper hand, and the first quarter ended with Copthorne four goals down.  The next quarter saw tougher play from Notre Dame, meaning the Copthorne girls had to fight in the third quarter.

Hannah Y.  rose to the challenge, intercepting many a ball.  Even with the score against them the girls played their best, with super effort put in by their captain, Sarena B. as WA and C.  Yasmin L. also kept spirits high, on and off court, giving useful advice to her teammates.  Unfortunately the fourth quarter went Notre Dame’s way, but I’m sure it was beneficial for the girls to experience playing an older and taller team, after all, practice makes perfect.  Well done and thank you to all the girls.  JB
