Lost 7-16

The girls were keen to improve on last week’s performance and took each quarter at a time. Copthorne had the first centre pass and attacked with purpose but still struggled with some of the basic skills and turning the ball over within striking distance of the goal. St Christopher’s saw this opportunity to counter and get onto the score sheet first. The first two quarter’s the opposition were fast and accurate, knowing where the next pass was and scoring from great distances. During the 2nd quarter Katie was moved to GD and did a fantastic job to win the ball and quickly getting it onto the attackers. From here Copthorne started to create more space and changed the channels of attack, allowing Maddie to score the team’s first couple of goals.

After half time and a few more changes in position the girls stepped up and tightened their marking and looked the stronger team in the 3rd quarter. Catherine once again had a fantastic game, continuously and tirelessly working to close the ball down. She combined well with Katie and Ilana on numerous occasions creating great chances for Khushi and Maddie who added 3 more to the home side’s score. Despite the cold conditions both teams still had an enjoyable last quarter, sharing possession and keeping the tempo high as well as the goals flowing.

Well done to Catherine for being voted player of the match and also to the rest of the team for a more structured performance and taking ones chances. HP
