2nd XI Cricket v Tavistock & Summerhill

Copthorne lost the toss and were put straight into bat against the Tavistock & Summerhill bowlers. From the first ball, it was clear that all the practice in the nets had begun to pay off as Tom quickly notched up 11 runs. Sadly the opening pair soon went back to trying to hit every ball as hard as possible and it was soon down to Jake and Jez to make a stand. This was the best partnership of the season so far with 30 runs scored and some patient batting. The rest of the team batted valiantly and it was clear that the boys were prepared to run quickly between the wickets. Sam held up the tail and a final score of 80 was achieved.  After tea, the boys focussed once again and set about bowling the opposition out. Wickets were taken quickly by Tom, Jake, Jez and Sam and some excellent keeping by Ashley saw  Tavistock bowled out for just 40 runs. The first win of the season (and also for the year, I am led to believe!) for the 2nds. Back to the nets to continue the improvement in our batting ready for the next game against Cottesmore on Wednesday 3rd June. Well done boys!  PA
