2nd XI Football v Cumnor House

16th November 2016

In a way this was a disappointing end to what has been a pretty good season for the 2’s and by no means does the final score reflect the game. Two well matched sides fought out a fairly even match with chances coming and going at both ends. Conceding 3 goals in the final 5 minutes suggested a one sided match which this certainly was not. The boys worked hard although losing Alex early we matched Cumnor in all aspects of the game. We had chances to win the game but scoring always looks easier when you are not the one with the opportunity.
The aim of sport at Copthorne is all about development and there is no doubt that this group of boys are better players now than they were in September! Winning is great but it is far from the most important statistic especially at 2nd team level where progress and enjoyment rank significantly higher.
A big thank you from me to all the boys who have played for us this season and also to our supportive parents who have given positive support sometimes in rather trying circumstances.
