2nd XI Hockey v Cottesmore

7th October 2016

The 2nds were up for a tough match this week as they were playing against a Cottesmore 1st team. Lily-Grace was captain and she lost the toss so Isabel (GK) chose her end to defend. Having lost Khushi to the 1st team this week the girls really missed having someone to control the game up the middle of the pitch. There was no fluidity in the game and we could barely string two passes together. Leah and Isabel had a tough job in defence and broke down attack after attack.

We went into the half-time break 2-0 down but it should have been a lot more, but Isabel saved some great shots on her goal. The second half was much better, although we didn’t challenge the Cotty goalkeeper we started to work better as a team and our forwards chased back to help in defence. Leah was getting good distance on her hit outs! The 3rd goal came from a good strike from the CF and unfortunately came off Leah’s stick and in the goal.

Player of the match as voted for by Cotty was Lila
Team: Lily-Grace (Capt), Katherine, Lila, Grace, Leah, Isabella (GK), Isabel and Cassie
